The brief
What the job asked for
Grindstone’s shop at Watergardens Town Centre came with a short, restricted program — a centre trading around the works and an opening date that wasn’t moving.
The brief called for a material-led room with a masculine palette, finished to a standard that wouldn’t betray the speed it was built at.
The build
From drawing to trading day
As with every fast program on this record, the answer was preparation: elements were built off-site and brought together in a tight, fully sequenced install, so site time was spent assembling rather than fabricating.
The palette wears its purpose — concrete benchtops, Durabrick cladding, timber veneer joinery and leather upholstery. Hard surfaces where the work happens, warmth where the customers sit.
On the record
As built, on the books
The shop hit the ground running from opening day. On the record, it pairs with the Werribee and Canberra fast-window builds as proof that restricted programs are a sequencing problem, not a quality compromise.
