Custom Joinery

Joinery is the detail layer — the difference between a space that photographs well on day one and one that still works, opens, closes and shines in year five.

The approach

Counters, cabinetry, timber screens, feature walls and one-off pieces are made to drawing in coordination with our fabrication partners, then installed by the same team that built the room around them. Tolerances are owned end to end, which is why the shadow lines stay true.

Material selection does the heavy lifting: European oak, blackbutt, birch ply, veneers, stone and Corian — chosen for how they wear, not just how they present. Where a program is tight, joinery is fabricated in parallel with site works and arrives ready to land.

Most of this joinery lives inside larger fit-outs, and it is planned that way: display units drawn around the stock they hold, counters around the people who work them, storage around the restocking run. When the joinery and the fit-out come from one team, the junctions between them stop being anyone’s problem.

The one-off pieces are where the shop shows its range — a library ladder on tracks serving full-height florist cabinetry, curved counter forms shaped for a food court, a complete coffee bar fabricated inside a shipping container. Odd briefs are welcome; they are usually the best work on the record.

Common questions

Do you build from designer details?
Yes — much of our joinery is built to architect or designer detail, and we flag buildability issues before fabrication rather than on site.
Can joinery be fabricated off-site?
That is the default where the program is tight: fabrication runs in parallel with site works and the pieces arrive finished, which is how 48-hour installs become possible.
What materials do you work with?
Across the portfolio: European oak, blackbutt, cedar, birch ply, veneers, laminates, stone, Caesarstone and Corian, with hardware specified for commercial duty cycles.
What is the difference between shopfitting and custom joinery?
Shopfitting is the fit-out of the tenancy as a whole; custom joinery is the purpose-built layer inside it — the counters, displays, storage and feature elements made to drawing for that room and no other.
Can joinery be commissioned on its own?
Yes. Where a room only needs its detail layer — a counter, a display wall, a feature piece — joinery can be scoped, fabricated and installed without a full fit-out around it.
