The brief
What the job asked for
Two trades, one tenancy, 48 hours. Inside Pacific Werribee’s new redevelopment, Grindstone’s barber-and-barista combination had to open without slowing the centre around it — a fit-out window measured in hours, not weeks.
A dual-use room raises the stakes: barber stations and a coffee service line have different services, different fixtures and different floors, and both halves had to land finished at the same moment.
The build
From drawing to trading day
The program only worked because most of the fit-out was built before the window opened. Joinery, benches and wall panels were prepared off-site and arrived ready to land — the site time was for landing them, not making them.
Inside the window, trades were synchronised and worked continuously: water and electricity brought to the space while carpenters, tilers and painters worked around the installs. Perini tiles, a veneer timber rear wall and black Caesarstone benches under LED strip light finish the room.
On the record
As built, on the books
The shop opened on time, finished, inside two days — the record’s clearest proof that off-site preparation is what makes impossible programs ordinary. The same method carries every fast-window record on these books.
